Dear FreeCreditReport.com,

So I have some issues with the fact that your credit reports aren’t so free, but that’s not the bone I’m picking today…

I’d like to discuss your new commercials. I wasn’t particularly in love with your old spots. They were annoying and incredibly low budget. The folks over at HeadOn and the other good sponsors of close captioning on Wheel of Fortune have ads with higher production values. However, if, as your “I’m Thinking of a Number…” Guy claimed, you got 20 million visitors as a result of your ads, you must have been doing something right.

So what’s with the singing pirate fellow? Granted, the song is a little catchy, but if you’re trying to sell a service that is all about the serious topic of identiy theft, the gimmicky pirate doesn’t strike me as the way to go. Sure, it’s relatively entertaining, but I don’t think your target market is going to be buying it. My advice, you can raise the budget and still stick to the straight talk.

Sincerely,

K

PS - Is working in a theme restaurant the singing pirate’s second job? Because I know identity theft can mess with your life in a variety of ways, but losing your job and being forced to work at a corny chain restaurant doesn’t strike me as one of them.
